A new journal that focuses on publishing metascience (also known as metaresearch or "research on "research"), aiming to increase the quality and efficiency of research and advance the quality, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly publishing ecosystem. The journal addresses ethical challenges, best practices, and scientific integrity issues through metascience and evidence-based research standards.

The journal focuses on metascience applied across the entire scientific knowledge ecosystem – from discovery and development to generation and dissemination. Technology, including artificial intelligence and new data models, can act as accelerants and major influencers on metascience and scientific integrity. The journal aims to uphold the highest standards of scientific integrity and responsible conduct in research, particularly in eHealth, digital health, and medical informatics. However, JMIR Metascience and Research Integrity also considers work in broader scientific disciplines. The journal promotes trustworthiness in science.
